History

wide-1

Wilton Horse Trials is run in Wilton Park owned by the Earl of Pembroke and the Trustees of the Wilton House Trust. The first Wilton Horse Trial was run in 1976 and it has always been a well renowned and popular event. It has a reputation for being a very friendly and efficiently run event and is well supported by local companies and the local community.

It was taken over by the present organiser, Anthony Ffooks, who was a British Eventing Technical Adviser for over 30 years, in 1998. Originally in 1998 and then during the past few years the layout of the cross-country courses has been changed fairly dramatically. The date has been changed to the last weekend in July for 2016.

This is the tenth year of title sponsorship of Whitehead Vizard, we are very grateful for their continued support in the current financial climate. Please check their link for further details.

There is easy access to the site via the Netherhampton gate into the Park and a hard track leads to a grass parking area overlooking the Show jumping arena. All areas of the site are easily reached from this point.

In 2016 Wilton Horse Trials will be adding a BE100 course to it’s already very popular Novice and Intermediate ones and will draw competitors from Cornwall to Kent in the South and as far North as Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

We also run an Area Qualifier for the under 21’s (u21OIQ) and a Pony Club class, these will feature many of the young stars of the future.

Wilton Horse Trials is celebrating it’s fortieth anniversary this year.
